Dressed from crown to white gloves in princess fancy dress, I guess you could say I started 2017 as I mean to go on. If you’ve ever been to Cornwall for New Years Eve, you’ll know that many of the towns have a fancy dress tradition, where the entire town has one big party to celebrate the start of a year. There was 5 of us going so we decided to go as the gang from Mario, me being Princess Peach.
With the beach and sea front being seconds away from the town’s maze of pedestrianised streets and multiple pubs, Looe really was the perfect location for one giant New Years Eve party. From smurfs to love heart sweets to woopie cushions to mermaids, there was no end to the super creative, imaginative costumes.
Despite it being cold by the coast at this time of year, going to Looe for New Year is something I’ll definitely be doing again, it’s such an enjoyable experience. My one piece of advice to anyone going would be to take your own drink, as the pubs are so busy you wait ages to get served, and no one notices so you end up saving a ton of money!
We journeyed to Cornwall on the Friday (30th) and returned on the 2nd of January, and this was the perfect break I think we all needed after the hectic festive period. Being by the sea air is great for making you forget about all your worries and really refreshes your mind!
There was 5 of us and we were extremely lucky to find a lovely cottage up on a hill a 10-minute walk away from the town centre. The front of the house looked out over the valley, creating the perfect views for us.
