185 Watling St. Pub & Kitchen

You’re probably thinking, what on EARTH are you talking about Amy?

On Tuesday 7th June myself, Tess and Dan (two very good friends from work) decided to visit a restaurant called 185 Watling Street in Towcester. I had heard so much about this restaurant and really wanted to try it for myself so we booked a table for 7pm.

Upon arrival the exterior of the building is a stunning converted white house.

The first thing I noticed when I walked in was how they have captured the art of old and new.

We were shown to a table by a lovely waiter and began making the EXTREMELY hard decision of what to eat. To start we all shared some Artisan Breads & Olives, Smoked Humus with Baby Vegetables and Ham Hock & Mustard Fritters. The Breads where all hand-made in-house and flavours included Tomato Bread, Cheese Bread and Olive Bread. Three words – wow, amazing, delicious.

For mains I decided on the special of Honey Roasted Duck Breast, Beetroot Mash, Savoy Cabbage and Bacon. Me being me decided to swap the Beetroot Mash for Bacon crushed Potatoes.  (Purely because I don’t like Beetroot). Tess panicked whilst the waitress was standing there and ordered exactly the same as me and Dan went for Roast Cornish Lamb Strip Loin, Potato & Spinach Terrine, Broad Beans, Rosemary Jus. My Duck was cooked to perfection and all of the flavours complimented each other so well.

Of course we HAD to have dessert. I opted for another special of Belgium White Chocolate Mousse, Summer Berry compote & fresh Summer Berries. After being peer pressured into it, Tess went for the Lemon Meringue Mess & Raspberry Sherbet and Dan went for the Milk Chocolate & Pecan Brownie with Popcorn Ice-cream. My White chocolate Mousse was absolutely incredible, not to sickly and the summer berries toned the ‘chocolatey’ taste down so if you weren’t a MASSIVE chocaholic like me, you wouldn’t find it hard to finish.

Our whole meal was a 10/10 for me with the service to match. After dinner we sat at the bar to digest before heading home.
A massive thanks to everyone at 185 Watling Street for an amazing evening, we will certainly be back!

Thank you so much for reading this week post! Make sure you read Billie A-Z here!
